Our next Sunday Study

June 1, 2025, 10:45 a.m. Pacific Daylight Saving Time, Sunday Bible study over Zoom:

[See below: updated OED Definitions PDF of words as defined in our studies.]

'2Corinthians'

Our next study in 2Corinthians continues with chapter 11:16-33.

Last study got us as far as verse 15 in chapter 11 so we'll continue on at verse 16 and work our way to verse 33 and the end of the chapter.  Time allowing we will move into chapter12 where Paul begins with the record of experience of 'a man' that Paul knew who was caught up to the 'third heaven'.  Paul also writes of 'the messenger of Satan' that was sent to buffet him.
Of special note this study of chapter 11, and in chapter 12, are some of the KJB words we found to benefit from examination in the OED.  I may think I understand words such as 'subtilty', 'simplicity', and 'rude' only to find when defined in the sense of the context there is much more benefit to the understanding of the reader.

  • What was Paul asking of the Corinthians when he wrote, 'bear with me a little in my folly'? DONE
  • How was it that the serpent was so readily able to deceive the woman? DONE
  • What does the word 'subtilty' tell the reader? DONE
  • What does the word 'simplicity' tell us about Christ? DONE
  • What is significant of Paul referring to himself as being 'rude' in speech? DONE
  • What is it to have speech that is considered 'contemptible'? DONE
  • How is one to understand what it is when a man 'devour' another man?
  • What is Paul saying when he refers to being 'in journeyings often', that he took a lot of trips?
  • What was Paul being 'in watchings often' concern?

In this chapter Paul compares what he suffered in the flesh to what the saints in Corinth suffered to help them understand what might yet be ahead of them, their being obedient in all things (2Cor 2:9).
